So, I have recently been made the new moderator for the Poet's Corner.
I'll attempt to clean up and enforce the rules that should be being followed
anyway and also actually update the Hall of Fame which seems to have
been abandoned the recent months. Anyway this magazine shall be featured
monthly or bi-weekly depending on the activity in the section to showcase
the many talents that this section has to offer and to inspire newer writers
to reach out and grab the bull by the horns and write some poetry. Truth
has helped A LOT in putting together this first issue so honourable mention
to him. Let's get it rolling...
Emilyinthepool
Emilyinthepool is a great writer and deserves a mention in this magazine
She's been steadily improving and the last couple of months she's shown
us the fruits of her labour gaining her induction into the hall of fame with
her piece That shade of red. Not to mention the other solid
pieces she seems to be dropping back to back at the moment. This is a
woman on a mission.
一四三
一四三 is another excellent poet, probably better known for his topicals but
everything I read from this guy lately has been on point. He also gained
induction this month in the hall of fame with his poem titled He. A man of few words,
but wisely chosen ones. Also, tagging this guy is a challenge in itself.
He's literally like the ninja of the poetry section, he jumps in posts his
poem and hops right back out before anyone knows what the hell is happening.
Soul_Purpose
Soul_Purpose is what I like to call a thinker. He seems to push the boundaries
with his poetry and has very unique ideas behind him. I just wish he'd post more
instead of hiding away in the Haiku league. lol Anyway this mention
was well deserved, Heres one to wrap your head around is his latest work and a
great example of what happens when you experiment with different ideas.
Truth Iscariot
Truth Iscariot is a familiar face to most, but he's going HAM on this section
at the minute dropping poems like a madman. Each as solid as the next and
The beauty of the moth was inducted into
the hall of fame this month so that's always a nice addition. Keep dropping.
Narrator
Although I don't know much about this guy. He's actually only dropped one
poem. However, if the rest of the drops to come are like his first. He'll be a
valuable asset to the section definitely.

The spotlight poem for this mag comes from The Symbol, 143. 143 put on a
tour de force in terms of the emotion packed into this piece. The sentiments
expressed here are ones I as a father can really dig. You can’t fabricate feelings
like these; this is real, raw, writing.
he smiles at me
the affirmation that the day was good
his hands swallowed by my palms
he giggles at me
he walks proud that he is here
steps of confidence erecting and strengthening
he spouts wildly how the day should end
how we should get drunk with Sunkist Orange Drink and Lay's Potato Chips
then he redirect to getting my butt whooped in madden
planning the time has got him juiced
through the rambling he stops and hug me
tell me that he love me
i'm the best
he ever had....lol
like he had others
but i feel that he truly trust me
he truly want me to be every dream he has of me
and i will be his every adventure and his prayer bench
he knows my love.....
i'm his only superhero
and who he is.......
he is my son

This Mag’s spotlight poem comes from two of the best poetry writers to ever grace
RB, Martyr and Poeta. This piece is a display of excellent word choice and being able
to weave abstract ideas together. Though this is a collaboration the poets seem to
be thinking with the same mind, two different entities of the same soul. This type of
writing is what we all should be aspiring to live up to as Poets and Writers. Here it is,
Ancient Future by Martyr & Poeta.
Who are your favourite poetry writers on RB at the moment?
My top 5 atm, in terms of enjoyability and current catalog are as follows: Soul Purpose,
Emilyinthepool, Android, and 143. Each have different elements which make them
awesome writers
How much time/thought would you say goes into your writing process?
Not as much as some would think lol. I get done with a poem in 30 minutes tops. I like to
write out whatever mood i'm in, get it all on the page, and move on. I'd say this is my biggest
downfall though because I don't proofread my work a lot. People seem to like it though lol
You've been around a while. In your experience what do you think makes a good poem?
It has to be able to connect with the reader. Thats the biggest thing I've learned over the years.
I've been writing since I was twelve and on the site since I was 15, so I know if you can get the
reader drawn in with your use of language, get them deep inside your mode of thought. and you
will succeed as a writer.
what do you think about the level of feedback on poems at the moment?
I think some are doing a splendid job and others are slacking lol. There are 3-5 writers who drop
excellent feed, and there and there are quite a few writers who leave feedback that could be
more in-depth and more telling. I think we all should remember when reading a piece that the
whole reason people are dropping poems on the site is to improve their craft. We all can use
Constructive Criticism and we all want it, so we all need to remember that one hand washes
the other.
What advice would you give to the newer writers emerging in the Poet's corner a
the moment?
Don't compromise your style trying to fit in to whats succesful on RB. Stick to your guns and
perfect your own style, make it so that people want to write like you and enjoy reading your
pieces because of your individuality as a poet. I was around back when Poeta and Atticus
were dropping HoF poems left and right, I know what its like to think writing a certain way will
get you more praise. But the thing that made them great was their individual styles. So stick
to what you're doing and perfect it.
How do you feel about the current level of activity within the section?
It's improving but still activity needs to increase. We've seen a great writer from RB's past,
Messiah, come back which is awesome. Omerta has been dropping all types of poetry pieces
which makes me proud, 143 has been dropping a few here and there, which is great. But
still we need more. Witty has promised a poem in the future so hopefully he will become more
active in the section. I think we are doing a good job revamping it but still there needs to
be more.
Thanks for your time, any shoutouts/beefs before we end this interview?
I like to send a shoutout to all the writers who are being active in PC, thank you. God of War,
thanks for modding Andy, he's gonna do great. Thanks for the interview Android....And fuck @Dia
Imagining defeat
by David Berman
She woke me up at dawn,
her suitcase like a little brown dog at her heels.
I sat up and looked out the window
at the snow falling in the stand of blackjack trees.
A bus ticket in her hand.
Then she brought something black up to her mouth,
a plum I thought, but it was an asthma inhaler.
I reached under the bed for my menthols
and she asked if I ever thought of cancer.
Yes, I said, but always as a tree way up ahead
in the distance where it doesn't matter
And I suppose a dead soul must look back at that tree,
so far behind his wagon where it also doesn't matter.
except as a memory of rest or water.
Though to believe any of that, I thought,
you have to accept the premise
that she woke me up at all.
Short rant this issue since I'm in a good mood, but first and foremost fuck people who
expect feedback yet don't leave feed back. People getting feedback and then not
returning the favour, hell I know I'm guilty of it myself sometimes when I step away
from my laptop and forget all about returning the feed. Also whoever didn't update
the Hall of fame for like 3 months... That's like denying people what they've earned.
Taking away what some people aim for is not cool, not cool.
Well. Hope you guys enjoyed the magazine, hopefully I have time to put more love
into it next issue. If any of you feel like you've not been mentioned over a few others
then it's nothing personal. Can't fit everyone who ever posts a poem into the mag, but
these are what stood out recently in our eyes. Again thank you Truth for the help and
interview, stay writing peoples, Rome wasn't built in a day and the Poetry section won't
be restored to it's previous overnight either. It's going to slowly improve though hopefully.
That's the aim, peace. Keep dropping.
