Topic: A Phone Call Away

Autonomy

Bloody fists blur in front of her face, in all directions
She can’t even feel the pain anymore, lost all detection
A broken nose, a cracked jaw, he performs twisted perfection
He moves with corruption, jostles unjustly, should be sectioned
Inserting his pain into his wife like festering infections
And she won’t mention these happenings even to her friends
Last week she tripped on the pavement and fell down the stairs
Four times, her scars are cavernous; they occur in dire pairs
--- One wounds her body, the other mutilates her prayers
Forever no more, sitting patiently in the hospital chair
Bleeding all over the floor, waiting for gentle love and care
It just aint there…. And this life, well it just aint fair
Just aint right for a woman to have to just grin and bear it
To have to wash blood out her hair and blend it with hairclips
And spare me this shit… “he had a bad childhood”
I’d love to kill all woman beaters, and if I could, I would
My own friend got beat half to death while I stood
On the sidelines wishing that monster was nothing but pyre wood
She wouldn’t listen, couldn’t listen to my begging Please
Got on my knees, said he didn’t deserve you or your unborn seed
She wouldn’t leave him although she was living in agony
A claim to love, a love so cold that it would freeze
Hearts, minds, punctured souls and bodies..
‘Please no more, do it for yourself and not for me’
I dialed for you constantly but you wouldn’t give a testimony
Only you can call to authority, for peace, for you to be free
I can’t help you if won’t help yourself, trust and know me
It’s only A Phone Call Away, reclaim your autonomy...
