October/Halloween horror movie watch list

i tried watching the new hellboy crooked man movie last night . . what a fucking shit show. make it about 25 minutes in then had to turn it off

It looks pretty awful.

yeah it does. i really liked the first Hellboy movie with Pearlman. sequel was decent but i didn’t enjoy it as much as the first. the Chief Hopper version was aight too. felt they could’ve done a lot more with the character & lore with his version. this new guy looks frail & dookie. temu Hellboy.

Watched "The Killing of a Sacred Deer."

Pretty good psychological film. All the actors did their thing. Very intense atmosphere with a dry script. Probably wouldn't watch it again but it's like Saltburn. You gotta watch it at least once to respect it.

Watched "Maxxine".

Wasn't terrible. First two acts had a lot of potential. Third act felt rushed and over the top. Ending softened it a bit. I think X is still the best film in the trilogy but Mia Goth did her thing.

The Outsider, based on a Stephen King tale, is dope. & The Terror was phenomenal. shit segued between survivalist horror to mysterious horror very well.

i loved The Fall Of The House Of Usher on netflix

Fall of Usher was fantastic.

Midnight Mass was my favorite of his shows but Fall of Usher and House on Haunted Hill were both great too. He also did Doctor Sleep which is one of my favorite Stephen King adaptations.

daaaamn you naming all the hits. Midnight Mass was straight bonkers. HoHH was good too so was Bly Manor.

& Dr Sleep??? maaaan that shit triggered my sleep paralysis ptsd like crazy.

i’m absolutely convinced that King is fictionalizing actual metaphysical/supernatural occurrences as a way to explain them the best way he can. he admitted that he was tripping on lucy’s for much of his early adulthood & doesn’t even recall writing some of his most famous stories due to it. so it’s entirely plausible to me that his heavy psych drug use opened a channel in his creative mind that allowed him to be a conduit for these stories that are faction but based on actual entities..

for instance.. Dr Sleep. those energy vampires remind me of astral entities/shadow people that prey on kids who have the natural ability to astral project or have lucid dreams without knowing what they are, how to control them or how to keep themselves psychically protected while in the astral realm. & this “shine” that they give off is what draws the beings to them. i feel like these beings feeding off that energy is what causes sleep paralysis and other night terrors.

i’ve written about this at length on other websites. fascinating & terrifying.

King wrote about kids getting molested or raped a lot. Also did a full child train in IT. Pretty sure he admitted he was sexually assaulted when he was younger but still. Hurt people HURT people.
